Our Story
Most patients who find Chrysalis have already been somewhere else and left without a real answer. No program existed that combined wound healing science, advanced biologics, and medically directed restoration in one place.
Chrysalis Skin & Scar was built to close that gap. Our co-founder Mischelle knew it firsthand, navigating her own reconstruction after breast cancer and finding that the clinical tools she needed simply didn't exist together. That experience, paired with over 30 years of wound care expertise, is why Chrysalis exists.

Teresa and Mischelle are sisters, clinicians, and co-founders who spent years building a nationally accredited wound care practice before they ever opened Chrysalis. That clinical foundation, built on wound healing science, advanced biologics, and international training, is the reason Chrysalis can offer a level of scar, birthmark, and hair care that simply does not exist anywhere else in the country.
But the moment that changed everything was personal. Mischelle went through an aggressive breast cancer diagnosis: radical mastectomy, multiple surgeries, and years of reconstruction. When it was over, she was left with extensive scarring and almost nowhere to turn. The tattoo artists who offered camouflage had no medical training. The surgeons wanted to cut again. No program existed that could treat the tissue, restore the skin, and give her the closure she deserved.
That gap is why Chrysalis exists.
Not as a med spa. Not as a cosmetic clinic. As a clinically directed program designed for patients who have been told there is nothing more that can be done, and who deserve a better answer.
Today, our all-female clinical team combines wound healing science, advanced laser technology, biologic therapies, and paramedical camouflage into a single, medically supervised program. Chrysalis means transformation. From where you are, to your best self.

The Clinical Team
Meet Teresa & Mischelle
Nurse Practitioner Teresa brings over 30 years of clinical experience, supported by advanced training in dermatology and a strong foundation in emergency and trauma care. From 1998 to 2015, she worked as an ER nurse and trauma instructor, specializing in adult and pediatric emergency care. Her extensive experience included the treatment of injuries, burns, and complex acute conditions, laying the foundation for her transition to a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) in 2015.
In 2018, she co-founded Athena Specialty Group, where she helped lead the practice to achieve wound care accreditation and now supports the care of approximately 3,700 patients each month. Teresa continues to provide clinical direction across the organization, ensuring a high standard of care grounded in experience, precision, and patient-centered outcomes.

Clinical Director Mischelle brings over 26 years of experience, including serving as a Physician Assistant in the ER from 2000 to 2019. As Co-Founder, she provides strong clinical leadership grounded in extensive hands-on experience and a deep understanding of patient care.
Her perspective is also shaped by her personal journey as a breast cancer survivor and mastectomy patient. This experience became the foundation for Chrysalis, rooted in a personal understanding of what it means to search for care that does not yet exist, and to build it yourself.

At Chrysalis Skin & Scar, our name reflects the care we provide. We meet patients in a vulnerable stage of their journey and guide them through clinically directed scar revision, tissue improvement, hair restoration, and paramedical camouflage with respect, precision, and compassion.
